    Living, loving, and leading as true disciples of Jesus Christ.

About DO Christ

              Disciples of Christ was founded in 2025, brother Paton Dennison as a house church in Edenvale. Brother Dennison has always been a very intellectual person who believed that faith is more than mystical and abstract and that God actually revealed himself in Scripture in a manner that man can understand.  As creatures made in the image and likeness of God, it is possible for humans to fathom that image and likeness.  By this time, he had engaged in a 20-year quest to find this Truth in various churches, denominations, and religions. The epiphany came in early 2022 when his findings culminated in the factual, real, and reasonable basis for belief in the God of the Hebrews and Jesus Christ.

              In many churches, however, it appeared that staying true to the Word and the Commandments was secondary to the matters of church solidarity, keeping up with modern ideologies and trends, maintaining membership, and gathering offerings.  Changes were being made to the Truth which were patently inconsistent with the Word of God but consistent with the Spirit of the World.  Worse still, many such teachings were disguised a new revelations from God revealed to church leadership by the Holy Spirit.

              In essence, the church Balance Sheet was more important than the Bible, Treasure was more important than Truth.

              Brother Dennison believes that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is not a God who follows the world – the world should follow him.  In light of this, the scripture in Joshua 24:15 was most apposite:

              "But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

              The Scripture was clear and instructive. In 2025, Brother Dennison and his household pledged to plant a house-church in which they will serve the Lord as his Disciples and remain faithful to the Truth and the Commandments. Pursuant to Matthew 28, it is also their responsibility to spread the Truth to all nations.

              Accordingly, Disciples of Christ is not your run-of-the-mill Christian Church which may only follow Pauline Christianity of the New Testament – almost ignoring the Hebrew Bible.  The New Testament is only 23% of the entire Bible.  Ignoring the teaching of the Old Testament is ignoring 77% of the Word. At DO Christ, we view the New Testament as completing and clarifying the Old.  Imaging a sentence missing 23% of its words – the message might seem complete and the missing words alone might also bear meaning.  But, together, we can see exactly what is meant.

              As a result of a Full Gospel approach, we also celebrate the Old Testament Festivals which Jesus himself celebrated annually, these are Passover (Pesach), Festival of Unleavened Bread; Festival of Weeks (Shavout/Pentecost); Festival of Thanksgiving (Sukkot).  Disciples also understand and how they prophesied and fits into the Gospel of Salvation.  These are celebrated in addition to the traditional Christian Holy Days of Good Friday, Christmas, etc.

      1. The Holy Trinity;

      2. Jesus and the 2 sinners. One of which chooses salvation.  Salvation is available to all who choose it, regardless of their past.

      DO Christ's Beliefs

      Serving with Purpose.

      Empowering lives, spreading the Gospel, and transforming communities.

      Creed / Articles of Faith

        1. We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, in their original writing, as fully inspired of God, and accept them as the supreme and final authority for faith and life (Sola Scriptura).
        2. We believe in one God; Father almighty; the Creator of heaven, earth, what is seen, and what is not seen.
        3. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only son of God, begotten from the Father before time: Jesus is Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not created, of the same essence as the Father.
        4. We believe that Jesus -
          • came down from heaven for the sake of mankind and became fully human being born of the Virgin Mary;
          • suffered, was crucified ,and buried on Good Friday, during Passover.  As the Passover Lamb, his blood cleanses us from Sin and saves us from Death and Hell (which are the consequences of sin);
          • entered the realm of the departed to minister to those who died before his time;
          • rose on the third day as evidence that man can overcome Death and have eternal life;
          • ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father; and
          • shall return in glory to judge the living and the departed and gather the elect to be ushered into the Kingdom of God.
        5. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the giver of life, whom we worship and glorify with the Father and the Son, who is of the same essence as the Father and Son, and speaks in the prophets.
        6. We believe human beings have immortal souls which existed prior to their human birth and will exist after their human death in the realm of the departed (also known as Hades).  After final judgment, the souls of the elect who followed God's commandments will be ushered into the Kingdom of God and the rest will be cast into eternal fire.
        7. We believe in one Holy Baptism with water as the first step to a renewal of a human being in the Holy Spirit, and that the person baptized is adopted into the fellowship of Disciples of Christ.
        8. We believe in Holy Sealing of those baptized with water, wherein they will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
        9. We believe that Holy Communion was instituted by the Lord Himself in memory of him and his once brought and eternally valid remission of our sins if we repent and forgive our those who sin against us.
        10. We believe in the Great Commission of Jesus to his disciples to teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all his commandments.  He who believes and is baptized will be saved, he who does not believe will be damned.
        11. I believe that I am obliged to obey -
          • the 10 commandments;
          • the 2 Commandments of to Love God and one another.  By this, all will know that we are His Disciples; and
          • worldly authorities provided no godly laws are thereby transgressed.
        12. We believe that the family life is important to the practice of Christian faith, as the practice of submission, service, obedience, unity, and love (SOUL) in the home is practice for SOUL to Christ.  Parents are commanded to be fruitful, multiply, become one flesh (which is create children whom are one flesh of the two parents), and raising God-fearing children who honour their parents,  This is key raising future disciples.
